The Space

Space

The engraving workshop is a workspace for artists with or without engraving experience, and it is where you can work on intaglio, screen printing and photopolymers.

It is a space of 180m2 divided into different areas:
—one for inking, where the engraving presses are for printing, another for acids, in which different metals can be worked
(zinc, copper and iron) with iron perchloride or nitric acid,
—and a quieter one with work tables for drawing, etc.

Screen printing also has its own space, to insolate and prepare the screens and also to print.

Equipment and material

The workshop has two intaglio presses, with 80 x 200 cm and 130 x 200 cm plates respectively, suitable for large formats and also for intaglio and rotogravure work (woodcut and linoleum).

The workshop has all the basic material: acids, solvents, resins, varnishes, black ink (not coloured inks), but not personal tools such as punches, cutters or blotters.

In screen printing, it only includes emulsifying and recovery liquids, although the artist is provided with information on where they can buy the necessary material.

Location

Very close to the centre of Barcelona, in the Gracia district, very easily accessible by metro (Metro L5 stop “Joanic”) or bus, in a quiet street — Josep Torres, 25.
